DJ PHAZE, born in Trinidad & Tobago, is known to bring people to their feet with the simple drop of a needle and the smooth blend of beats. His non-conventional style and ability to seamlessly play a variety of music spanning everything from Arabic & Bhangra to Hip-Hop and Soul, is what sets him apart from your average DJ. His musical talents started at the age of 4, when he began learning to play keys by ear. By his teenage years, he mastered a couple more instruments. DJ PHAZE was also studying and following in the footsteps of his father who was a local DJ, there was no doubt he was destined to be a performer.
DJ PHAZE emigrated to the United States and began making his mark in the Caribbean community and college circuit by gaining airtime with his mix spot “The Caribbean Affair” on Morgan State University's WEAA 88.9FM in Baltimore, Maryland. Promoters began taking notice of his skills and started booking him for events that were not exclusively targeted to Caribbean audiences - and the rest is history.
Formerly a member of the Adidas Originals “In-Store DJ Crew,” DJ PHAZE moved on to mixing at Puma's flagship store in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown area. His ability to appeal to an international audience launched him into residencies at nationally and internationally recognized clubs in the Baltimore, Washington, DC metro area. He also secured residencies at local radio stations and one in the United Kingdom.
DJ PHAZE has co-produced the Ear Candy Chronicles Mixtapes powered by Gypsy Soul and BriclynEntertainment. The mixtapes feature numerous independent artists throughout the United States who are on the verge of becoming household names.
Keeping busy on the DJ circuit, DJ PHAZE has been in constant rotation between Washington, DC and New York City. In Baltimore he has played dates with the popular Jazzy Soul Collective Tour featuring Eric Roberson, Angela Johnson and Anthony David.Sharing stages with world-renowned artists and legends like Slick Rick, Eric Roberson and New Edition, are a few highlights of his career. In the midst of his hectic schedule, DJ PHAZE still finds the time to produce his weekly podcast. His soul mixes are highly regarded and sought after by true music connoisseurs.
DJ PHAZE truly believes that music is a universal language and is one of the very few things that unite people as a whole. He likes to live by the motto of the late great Bob Marley, “One good thing about music, when it hits, you feel no pain…”.
